Mission Statement
“The Mission Statement of the Onaga Historical Society is to bring together those people interested in history, especially the history of Onaga, Kansas. Understanding the history of our community is basic to our democratic way of life, gives us a better understanding of our state and nation, promotes a better understanding and appreciation of our American heritage, and furthers our culture.”
The museum was established in 1975 by a small group of dedicated area citizens who were interested in preserving the rich heritage of Onaga and the surrounding communities. What started as a small display in the one room log cabin on Leonard Street in Onaga has grown to be a complex that comprises more than 11,000 square feet of display space.
